Man City Champions league ban
Let's hope this sticks and they don't ironically buy their way out

What i did think was interesting was an "expert" on the radio last night saying that City are going to HAVE yo sell players this summer as without the champions league money they'll most likely be in breach of FFP again.

Could start off some vicious cycle for them.

Of little interest/use to us unless they get relegated and sadly I can't see that happening. Having said that why are Saracens being chucked out of the Rugby Union premier league?

James Robson at the Standard being funny.

"We don’t know the exact time-frame of City’s FFP breaches between 2012-16.
But these were among their signings during that period: Rodwell, Maicon, Sinclair, Garcia, Nastasic, Navas, Jovetic, Demichelis, Fernando, Mangala, Bony.
Not among their most successful business #mcfc"

Actually true, as well. That's almost a West Ham-level of shit punts! Banned from CL for signing Jack Rodwell, haha.

You are right about the past but FFP is now a factor thats why the likes of Everton and Villa are being investigated.

Re: Man City Champions league ban
Does FFP actually make any difference? The big clubs have always been able to buy the better players going back to the 60's and 70's, it's just that today the amounts are that much larger.

Revenue figures for City last year was 538 m and for Liverpool 533m.

“income in comparison to likes of Man United and Liverpool is some way off.”

This is what annoys me. They are already miles ahead of everyone else so if other teams can’t spend to compete with them then what’s the point.

Re: Man City Champions league ban
I think Gonzo explains the City fiasco distinctly on hammers chat.explaining how FFP effect the teams outside the top including us.He set out why our owners dont/ cant now spend their own money on on players and wages
Whilst I agree with most of what he said . idont agree that there is no forward for us as i think if think ownership of the stadium would improve our opportunities to move forward.Gonzo feels that even rich owners can not buy success these days due FFP.
There is always the spurs route dare i say, which has been suggested by someone on this site in the past, they has increased their revenue sgnificantly over the last few year scurrenyly450 m.' and haven't paid silly money for player purchases. but it has taken a number of years. They borrowed 600 m for their stadium and are only currenly paying interest only so debts are not such a disaster if managed properly.

Re: Man City Champions league ban
Can't see Guardiola staying if this sticks. Or the top players staying around. The likes of Sterling, De Bruyne and co won't want two years out of the CL. They might have to start playing the likes of Foden which in some ways wouldn't be a bad thing for City. They have an ageing squad so playing and signing youngsters without the pressure of having to qualify for the CL might do them a favour long term with regard to a squad overhaul.

Re: Man City Champions league ban
City have been bent for years.

Wriggling around FFP by obtaining massive sponsorship from companys that the owners themselves have links to.

Think it will affect them quite a bit.

150 mill loss a year from not being in champs league. Plus the massive wages they pay.

income in comparison to likes of Man United and Liverpool is some way off.

Will make it even harder for them to compete and comply with FFP at the same time.

they are on 51 points.

nice 25 points deduction throws them right into the mix........ lets see in Pep can manage the pressure of a relegation 6 pointer.

UEFA FFP and the PL FFP are two different things no?

i dont think Gold will ever have to worry about the UEFA version.

zico 12:12 Mon Feb 17
Re: Man City Champions league ban
So a two year ban and 30 million fine for spending a bot more than they should but if your fans kick the shit out of others or constantly racially abuse players you get a 30,000 fine at best. Nice to see UEFA have their priorities straight!!

Heard earlier that the earliest it will all get done either way for sure is in June, so whoever finishes 5th will be waiting with baited breath.

Re: Man City Champions league ban
this is not possible

have been told numerous times on here that FFP doesn't exist and it's just an excuse teams use to to spend

Pickle Rick 11:08 Mon Feb 17
Re: Man City Champions league ban
It'll get reduced to one season that way City have a small victory in court and UEFA are still seen to be punishing a club for breaking their rules.

Oh, and we're still probably going to hand them their usual 5 goals on Weds.

White Pony 10:31 Mon Feb 17
Re: Man City Champions league ban
I’m sure they’re not the only ones.

Wil be interesting to see how they play now, with nothing to play for.

We will still lose 5-0.
